The Electro-Harmonix Big Muff Pi NYC (Revision 9), released in 2000, is the modern reissue of the classic American Big Muff. This version was designed by engineer Fran Blanche (founder of Frantone) and returned production to New York City after the company’s 1990s focus on Russian-made models. This Big Muff utilizes the EC-3003-A circuit board. Compared to later revisions (B/C), the Rev A/B models have less bass, slightly less scooped mids, and a more aggressive, grungier character, similar to a “buzzsaw” sound.
