This Vintage 1989 G&L Signature Series Skyhawk is sold “As Is”.
A solid, attractive, original, playable instrument from the (arguably) “Golden Age” of G&L.
However, we have a mysterious truss rod issue: It appears to be “maxed out” while still leaving some slight relief in the neck. It plays well now, but no further adjustments will be possible without some work (maybe an extra washer and some lubrication?). The more serious, related issue: The previous owner (or sloppy technician) cranked the truss rod until an approximately 2″ vertical split developed in the back of the neck (see pics). It’s not a gaping crack and doesn’t seem to flex at this point. We do not believe the rod is broken (it will loosen) but can’t verify. The adjuster is not stripped.
There’s a small finish chip and some rash in the belt-buckle area as well as a handful of small nicks and scratches around the surface of the guitar. Still, it presents very well and is considered clean in our opinion – “Very good” if not for the aforementioned truss rod situation.
The original trem arm is included as well as the factory case (missing one latch and sporting one replacement – see pics). The case is functional and solid.
