This Oahu Pearloid Lap Steel from 1958 has a cool retro look and is in very good condition for its vintage. Although there is some degradation on the control plate, it remains nice and reflective. There are a few light dings in the body and some marks in the fret graphics, but nothing significant to speak of. The bottom felt is mostly worn away. This vintage instrument looks and sounds wonderful, is in complete working order and comes with a slide and original cable and case.
Oahu Pearloid Lap Steel guitars are iconic mid-century instruments built primarily between the late 1930s and the 1960s. Produced during the height of the Hawaiian music craze, these instruments were commissioned by the Oahu Publishing Company and manufactured by prominent subcontracting factories like Valco, Magnatone, Kay, and Dickerson. They are highly distinct due to their pearloid wrap coverings.
