We received (both) Vintage 1980/81 Roland CR-8000 CompuRhythm units, extra parts, service records, manual, and foot switch from the estate of the original owner.
The “featured” machine is in fantastic condition cosmetically and functionally. Fully tested. Every switch, knob, button, LED, and connector is in working order. The surface is bright and clean, etc. It’s as pretty as we’ve seen offered for sale (other than some stubborn tape residue on the bottom).
The two included work orders indicate 12 replaced switches (11/98) and a cleaning (02/07). We noticed a roached-out AA battery compartment (for user program memory storage) so we replaced it with a fresh one from the included donor unit (see photos – it’s the yellowed one)! In the disassembly process, one of the molded plastic screw receivers broke (they get brittle over time), resulting in one ‘missing’ screw in the bottom panel. A very minor, insignificant issue but worth mentioning…
The donor unit powers up but does not function. It might come back to life in the hands of an expert technician? At the very least, it might serve to replace parts in the “featured” one if/as necessary.
